SUMMARY:UDL in Practice: Designing Environments
DESCRIPTION:UDL in Practice is a monthly professional learning series hosted by the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI). These 30-minute online sessions create space to think through real teaching questions\, challenges\, and ideas using a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach. Each session focuses on an area of course design\, such as methods\, materials\, environments\, access\, support\, or executive function. An invited instructor or staff joins CTSI to bring something they are currently thinking about or working through. There is no expectation of a finished practice or polished example. Together with participants\, we explore possibilities\, considerations\, and trade-offs for designing more accessible\, inclusive\, and usable learning experiences.Come as you are and join the conversation. Attend one session or join throughout the year. Each session stands on its own while contributing to a broader conversation about inclusive and accessible teaching. Ideas generated through the series may also inform CTSI’s UDL Strategy Libraries (https://teaching.utoronto.ca/teaching-uoft-udl/udl-practice/).UDL in Practice SeriesDesigning Methods (September 18\, 2026) (https://ctsi.eve.utoronto.ca/home/events/6992)Designing Materials (October 16\, 2026) (https://ctsi.eve.utoronto.ca/home/events/6993)Designing Environments (November 20\, 2026) (https://ctsi.eve.utoronto.ca/home/events/6994)Designing for Access (January 15\, 2027) (https://ctsi.eve.utoronto.ca/home/events/6995)Designing for Support (February 19\, 2027) (https://ctsi.eve.utoronto.ca/home/events/6996)Designing for Executive Function (March 19\, 2027 (https://ctsi.eve.utoronto.ca/admin/events/6997))

SUMMARY:Cogniti Drop-In
DESCRIPTION:Cogniti (https://teaching.utoronto.ca/tool-guides/cogniti/) is U of T’s platform for building course-specific AI agents: grounded in your content\, aligned with your pedagogy\, and deployed directly in Quercus. The Cogniti Drop-In Clinic is an open\, drop-in session for anyone working with Cogniti\, whether you are setting up your first agent or troubleshooting one that’s already live. Each session opens with a short (10–15 min) structured walkthrough covering the essentials: defining your agent’s purpose\, setting up guardrails\, crafting your system prompt\, and uploading course materials. After that\, the floor opens up for live troubleshooting and discussion: guardrail tuning\, prompt refinement\, handling unexpected student interactions\, or any other issue that you’ve hit. No registration or agenda required – feel free to come with whatever you are working on.

SUMMARY:GenAI Dialogue with Bradley Seward: Using AI to Teach Recruitment Skills and Support Career Preparation
DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Bradley Seward\, Assistant Professor\, Teaching Stream\, Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources | Project Director\, Research Initiative\, Education + Skills (RIES) In This Session: Professor Bradley Seward will walk through his “Beat the Machines” assignment (https://teaching.utoronto.ca/teaching-uoft-genai/at-u-of-t/seward-beat-the-machines/)\, in which students use AI to build recruitment cases and draft job advertisements\, then must outperform the AI output using course frameworks and external sources. He will also discuss how he guides students to use AI for career wayfinding and labour market preparation. GenAI Dialogues are informal\, 30-minute online sessions where U of T instructors and staff share how they are navigating generative AI in their teaching and learning contexts. Building on discussions from the GenAI Reading Group (https://teaching.utoronto.ca/teaching-uoft-genai/genai-programming/#reading-group)\, each session features a colleague sharing their experience around a particular theme\, followed by open dialogue on what’s working\, what’s uncertain\, and what we’re considering next. How to Participate:  • Use the Teams Meeting link shared in your EVE registration to join • All levels of familiarity with and viewpoints on GenAI are welcome – feel free to bring your questions\, experiences\, and perspectives • To stay connected\, join the CTSI GenAI in Teaching and Learning Commons Teams Channel to hear about future sessions and ongoing discussions: Open Microsoft Teams → “Join or create a team” → “Join a team with a code” → Enter code: 5uztctq
