SUMMARY:CTSI Equity Roundtable - Empowering Student Leaders: The U of T Tutor Training Program
DESCRIPTION:Facilitators: Jonathan Vandor\, Team Lead\, and Maple Xiang\, Curriculum Coordinator\, Centre for Learning Strategy Support (CLSS)\, Peer ProgramsDespite the wide range of supports offered by the University\, students frequently look for additional help outside of office and normal business hours. In this context\, the Centre for Learning Strategy Support has developed the UT3: the University of Toronto Tutor Training Program (https://studentlife.utoronto.ca/program/tutor-training/) and an associated Tutor Directory (https://api.nimbuslearning.com/sso/uoft/login)\, for undergraduate students in all disciplines to find qualified assistance—and for tutors to gain experience and make money in helping their peers.Join this Equity Round Table to learn about the UT3 training curriculum\, how the program has evolved over time\, and how it can contribute to the St George campus ecosystem. We will pay special attention to how we empower students through collaboration\, peer learning\, and community building. Opportunities will be provided to reflect on how tutors may support students in the classroom\, as well as to provide insight into how current tutors can further their practice as student leaders.
