SUMMARY:Searching the SoTL Higher Education Literature
DESCRIPTION:Facilitators:Carey Toane\, Entrepreneurship Librarian\, Gerstein Science Information Centre\, UTLDevon Stolz\, Student Engagement Librarian\, UTL Cora McCloy\, Faculty Liaison Coordinator\, SoTL\, CTSIAre you interested in exploring new evidence-based pedagogical methods or publishing research on a teaching topic but feel unsure where to start? Identifying gaps in existing scholarly literature can be challenging\, particularly when researching across various subject areas and navigating unfamiliar databases.This practical and interactive in-person workshop will guide you in finding online sources of teaching and learning literature available through the University of Toronto Libraries. Facilitated by UTL librarians\, you’ll have the opportunity to refine your research questions and develop effective search skills and strategies to find the most relevant literature for your SoTL inquiry. At the conclusion of this session\, you will be able to:  • identify key concepts and related terms for your research question • effectively search using controlled vocabulary and Boolean operators on your topic using a variety of online SoTL related databases • locate key literature to inform your inquiry into teaching and learning • maintain current awareness of new SoTL resrch as it is published • refine your research on teaching question.  Please note that a laptop is required for this workshop.
