SUMMARY:ACUE Lunch and Learn Series - Pedagogy of Care: Community Building Practices
DESCRIPTION:Facilitators: Maria Assif\, Professor\, Teaching Stream\, English Department\, UTSCSafieh Moghaddam\, Assistant Professor\, Teaching Stream\, Department of Language Studies\, UTSC \nThis session reflects on the pedagogy of care in post-pandemic theories and praxes. Students and faculty facilitators will first provide a brief landscape of the most recent scholarship on the pedagogy of care. Facilitators will then share how the pedagogy of care has shaped their respective UTSC communities in Linguistics and English including both online and in-person formats as well as seminar and larger courses such as a first-year course 1200+ students (fall 2023 enrolment). Ultimately\, the session aims to highlight the successes\, the challenges and the potential pathways this framework presents. The session is open to instructors of all experience levels. \nACUE Lunch and Learn faculty facilitators have completed 25 modules and earned the Certificate in Effective University Instruction (https://teaching.utoronto.ca/certificate-in-effective-university-instruction/) offered by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) in partnership with CTSI.
