We will model various activities that you can incorporate into your courses. This webinar will highlight how you can use Quercus and the Academic Toolbox to support the implementation of these active learning strategies. Please note that this session will feature an activity that allows you to experience breakout groups.   \nLearning Outcomes:  • Identify active learning strategies that can be used in different course modalities  • Implement active learning strategies using tools in Quercus and the Academic Toolbox and various classroom affordances  • Navigate Quercus and active learning support resources

SUMMARY:Tune into Teaching: From Panic to Possibility: Rethinking and Redesigning Assignments in the Wake of Generative AI
DESCRIPTION:Facilitators: Alison Gibbs\, Director\, Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI)\, and Professor\, Teaching Stream\, Department of Statistical SciencesAndrea Williams\, Deputy Director\, CTSI\, Associate Professor\, Teaching Stream\, Innis College and Director of Writing & Rhetoric and Innis OneAs an instructor\, it is hard to read about the impact of generative AI on teaching and learning in higher education and not wonder what we are going to do come September\, especially when we are told that many of our students are already using it. This workshop will help move you from panic mode to problem-solving: in consultation with workshop leaders and faculty peers\, you will get a chance to rethink and redesign one of your assignments with a focus on learning objectives\, possibilities\, and constraints in our new context.  Participants will be asked to come prepared with one or two assignments and a related class activity that could be rethought in view of generative AI. You will have the opportunity to work on adapting these assignments during the session.
