The UTSC Campus Curriculum Review was launched in 2020 as a named priority of the campus’s current strategic plan, Inspiring Inclusive Excellence, and as a part of a broader framework of curricular innovation and renewal. The review’s focus is on Indigenous knowledges and knowledge systems, Black knowledges, racialized perspectives, and international and intercultural perspectives, while also taking an intersectional approach. The process has been collectively led by a Working Circle made up of students, faculty, librarians, staff and community members. The Working Circle’s report was released in the spring of 2022 with 56 recommended actions. This session will introduce participants to the review in the context of its ongoing implementation, assessing its impact three years on. It will also explore the circle-based process that the Working Circle has followed as an example of the structural change towards which the curriculum review aspires and as a space that centres listening, learning, and dialogue across difference.
